Maresca responds to fans chanting his name in Southampton win: 'Chelsea are back'

Enzo Maresca was overjoyed to hear Chelsea fans chanting his name after his team thrashed Southampton 5-1.

Chelsea extended their unbeaten record in all competitions to seven matches on Wednesday, thrashing Southampton 5-1 with goals from Axel Disasi, Christopher Nkunku, Noni Madueke, Cole Palmer, and Jadon Sancho. It was an important win for the Blues on a night when league leaders Liverpool lost two points against Newcastle, cutting their advantage over the west London club to seven points. Scoring five goals in the game also allowed them officially overtake Arsenal on goal differential.

During his post-match press conference, the 44-year-old said, "It was a very pleasant feeling. You can see they're happy, which is our goal; we work hard every day to keep them pleased. Tonight was a very pleasant sensation. They can see Chelsea has returned, which is significant."

Maresca's side will return to play this weekend, hosting London rivals Tottenham Hotspur in a thrilling Premier League fixture away from home on Sunday.
