Real Madrid land top Premier League talent Dean Huijsen in £50m deal

‎Real Madrid’s soon-to-depart manager Carlo Ancelotti has broken his silence on the club’s latest high-profile acquisition—20-year-old centre-back Dean Huijsen. The Spanish giants triggered the Bournemouth defender’s £50 million ($66.4m) release clause, confirming a blockbuster move that shocked many across European football.

‎Ancelotti, speaking at a press conference shortly after the deal was announced, praised Huijsen’s talent and foresaw a bright future for the Dutch-born star. “Huijsen is a great, young player with great potential. The signing is very good,” said the Italian tactician. “I'm very excited about all the players Madrid signs, because Madrid always wants to be at its best and will always be at its best.”
‎Huijsen only joined Bournemouth last summer from Juventus for a modest £12.8 million ($17m), but his standout performances in the Premier League have catapulted him into the spotlight. Despite Ancelotti’s impending departure—he is set to take over as Brazil’s national team coach—the veteran manager’s stamp of approval signals Madrid’s confidence in Huijsen as a long-term defensive asset.
‎“Injuries this season hurt us,” Ancelotti added, referencing absences of key defenders such as David Alaba, Eder Militao, and Dani Carvajal. “It’s the right time to reinforce with promising players.”
‎The Dutch youth international is expected to play in Bournemouth’s final two fixtures of the season—against Manchester City and Leicester City—before completing his transition to the Santiago Bernabéu. His swift rise, from Juventus to the Premier League and now LaLiga’s elite, underscores his potential as one of Europe’s premier defensive prospects.
‎Real Madrid’s £50m gamble marks yet another bold investment in youth, and fans will be eager to see how far Huijsen can go in the famous white shirt.
